Green-Veined White

edit-2153

I never used to realise that there were a variety of different sorts of white butterfly. I remember any butterfly that was white tended to be called a ‘cabbage white’ and I was more interested in the more colourful butterflies. But actually there are various sorts and they’re all interesting in their way. This one is a green-veined white and is a lovely butterfly.

After a bit of googling I’ve discovered that both the small white and large white butterflies are known as cabbage whites as they both have caterpillars that enjoy eating through cabbages. So that might explain why they’re the only ones I knew about!

  1. This is just lovely. The composition is excellent and the simplicity of the colors is really quite elegant. I really am enjoying your insects and your great macros!
